Tour - Captain's Ready Room
Summary
The ready room is a private office reserved for the commanding officer's use. Here, the commanding officer can engage in administrative work with all relevant office equipment at hand without interfering with bridge operations. In addition, this room is usually the preferred place where the captain can hold private discussions and-or receive classified communicatons.
During times or war or heightened combat readiness, this is also usually where the captain will sleep, in order to be just one step away from attending the bridge at all times.

Description | Captain Krace's ready room aboard the Iapetus features a large dark wood desk faced by two small chairs and a small couch which can double as a bunk. The desk has a LCARS terminal embedded into the construction which enables direct access to the ship's main computer and which can recede below the desk surface in order to provide more working space for the captain, or to remove distractions during meetings. Along the wall that the desk appears to come out of is a large wall-mounted LCARS screen for use as a presentation aid during small meetings, and on the opposite wall is access to a replicator and beyond that a small head. Captain Krace's ready room, much like those of his contemporaries, is decorated with various personal objects that he has collected throughout his career. Behind his desk is a small shelf which contains a small number of real paper books (replicated) and a few select ornaments, and against one wall is a small model of his first command, the USS Lincoln. His desk usually has a small scattering of isolinear data cards and PADDs, but is regularly cleared so as to present the image of busy rather than messy. The wall behind the captain's desk has a large window which provides the captain a view out over the stern of his ship. |
