Visiting Hours

Posted on Mon Nov 23rd, 2009 @ 1:34pm by Captain Vorn Krace & Commander Peter Brown

Mission: Into a Devil's Heart
Location: USS Iapetus - Brig
Timeline: MD07 - 2025hrs

There was a sole occupant of the primary cell in the Luna class brig when Captain Vorn Krace entered the secured area. The entrance to the cell was ringed by a blue glow from the forcefield emitters, and the cell's occupant was sitting on the floor, back leaning against the wall, with his uniform over jacket lying discarded on the bench.

Vorn approached with his left arm crossed across his chest, his right cupping his chin as he regarded the man in the cell, waiting to be noticed.

Peter looked up looked directly into Vorn's Eyes he spend several moments looking at him before standing up and walked over to the forcefield

"Yes, Sir" Replied Peter

"I still don't understand your actions, Peter," Vorn said, without taking his gaze off the man the other side of the force field. "Why did you tell Abigail and Ashley, but not me?"

Peter looked at Vorn for an long Moment then began to speak

"Vorn, I did it because I could never forgive my self if you got involved and something happened to you. I was not going to come back, I was going to risk my life to stop the Sierra, that's why I disabled the ship. I needed to try to keep you as far from me to protect you, as I was told if I would even involve you, for punishment it would cost you your Command. I couldn't let that happen," said Peter as he crossed his arms.

"Ashley, she was an pawn in this, she would never know the true use she was. Abi was the person that knew the truth," replied Peter.

"Since when have Starfleet orders carried threats with them?" Vorn said, still doubting the legitimacy of the orders Peter received. "Especially on someone other than the officer receiving the orders? Blackmail itself is illegal in the Federation."

Peter turned looking at the wall before facing Vorn again taking an breath as he was just about to tell him more then Vorn would want to know about the Federation.

"Vorn, my dear friend this is something you get to learn about Federation Security. Their charge is the protection of the Federation - yes us in Starfleet defend the ideals but with Federation Security they make sure the Federation survives. These are desperate times. Federation Security is something like Section 31 at times. We're the Official Section 31. Yes there is Starfleet Intelligence but they don't get into the Stuff Federation Security gets into, with Federation Security they have access to almost every aspect of Starfleet - more power than Starfleet Intelligence." Replied Peter before looking at Vorn.

"This is how it would be done, first you would be ordered to a review hearing and made to be relieved of Command for the Hearing. Yes you will pass the hearing - after the investigation which Federation Security would make sure takes years. Then maybe if there is a Starship Command you will get one again or stuck on a Desk. There is an reason they threaten you as with me I they can't do much to me, as Vorn the world of Federation Security is a world most people don't see. This is why I left, they're no better than Section 31." Replied Peter

Peter then walked over and picked up his uniform jacket holding it he threw it at the Force field

"This is why, I can't go on. I betrayed a trust which can't be broken, so this will be the final moments you will see me alive," Replied the Cold Voice of Peter

"Don't be stupid," Vorn snapped at Peter's last comment, startling him. "You know as well as I do that the singular crime which still holds the death penalty in the Federation is visiting Talos IV, and that there is no believable way for anyone to instigate you were even near there - it is the other side of the quadrant, and impossible to reach in the time you were missing."

"Think were I was going to make sure I did Die, " Replied Peter looking at Vorn

He took a moment to compose a response to Peter's explanation of Federation Security. Vorn wasn't too surprised that he had knowledge of Section 31 - a group which was completely unknown to all but those who have had at least a loose encounter with them, and had its existence denied by every facet of the Federation - but he was surprised at how little Peter understood of the way the galaxy worked. It was true that Vorn held the ideals of the Federation higher than perhaps the most practical would, but he still understood how the system worked. "There can be no 'official Section 31'," Vorn replied after some time. "Section 31 is unofficial, and its existence denied by every Federation official because it considers itself outside of the law. Noone is outside the law, Peter. Especially not an official facet of the Federation Government. You've been lied to, and made to believe a system which was causing an enormous amount of harm to the Federation - not protecting it. Whether you want to believe it or not, you were a pawn of their illegal games, and they will answer for them."

He took another pause, considering the man in front of him and remembering what Sara Pendragon had said in his ready room earlier. "As your commanding officer, I am giving you a direct order to defend yourself to the full extent of your ability at your court martial," he told the man in the cell.

"Vorn, maybe I have been used but think about it, Section 31 has no true control of the Federation, they can go around in the background but what if they could get into Federation Security, the Power of Federation Security which they gathered in the last war, what most don't know those powers were never removed, once they had these Powers to go to any planet and have access to anyone" Replied Peter as he walked up and down the Cell then looked at Vorn quickly spoke "What if Section 31 controls the Director of Federation Security, I know now in my time in the Special Operations Unit that truly we worked with Section 31, and I know all the contacts Federation Security has in Starfleet Command" Replied Peter before looking at the Captain.

"Federation Security is bound by Law," Vorn replied. "And if they've been breaking that law to the extent they have here, this week, then I will personally make sure that the Federation Council deals with it. But Federation Security isn't the one that will be on trial in two days time. You will be. And you need to defend yourself."

"If, I get off I will leave, I will Promise you that to be out of your way" Finished Peter

"I will decide that," Vorn replied. Whether an officer submitted a resignation or not, it was their Captain's prerogative whether or not to accept it. Vorn hadn't decided what he would do in the case of Peter yet, and had only settled to see what occurred at the court martial. "I am still your commanding officer, and notwithstanding the ruling of the court martial, your career is still under my prerogative." He paused a moment, before turning to leave. Before leaving the brig, whilst still in Peter's sight, he stopped and turned towards him. "Remember my order."
