Mission:
Borderline Diplomacy
Location: U.S.S Iapetus Lounge
Timeline: En-route (BACKPOST)
Peter was sitting in the Lounge drinking a cup of coffee. He was tired after reading all the reports from Starfleet Command, and he was glad of a rest. He was lost in a letter he received from Earth.
Abigail entered the lounge and saw Peter. She grabbed a drink and joined Peter. "Hi!" She placed the PADDs down on the table. "How are you Peter?"
Peter looked up from his letter then took an breath, placing down his PADD.
"Well wanting to build a time travelling device; but other then that hunky dorey you know me Abi. Can't complain too much; I am still alive and with my friends... at least some of them still talk to me," replied Peter with a smile, looking at Abigail.
Abigail smiled back and said, "Let me guess you want to go back and stop the entire thing from happening?" The smile widened, "You know that's against the rules Peter." Abigail shrugged, "Anyway I am working on figuring out what the ship we encountered was. I was wondering if I could recruit you to help?"
"Yes, I know it is; but one can hope," said Peter with a grin as he looked at the padds that Abigail brought to the table.
"Well; looks like you got your work cut out for you. I got nothing to do so lets see your information" Finished Peter
Abigail handed the PADDs over to Peter with the hope that he could help.
Peter looked at the Padds filled with Sensor information he read the information while at the same time taking a padd and entered information from different padds getting an bigger picture.
"Looks like our Friends have been sloppy" Replied Peter with a grin as he pointed to the information he wrote down showing Abigail. " As you see here in Index 353.54 and 113.75 there is an noticeable burst of the Low Em Field; a span of 90 Seconds each time; no matter who you are when you try to hide a transmission there are leaks in every secure transmission unless you want to be found, but from this level of burst at most an range of 5 to 12 Lightyears could be where this transmission could be from. Those bursts, they are data files as it's running at 00.3.754 Mhz - too low for voice but data is something else," finished Peter as he looked at the Padd's
"So what does that mean Peter? I'm a scientist, not a mathematician." Abigail looked at her friend with some interest.
"This means; the vessel is of a Major Power in the sector. The only question is who?" Replied Peter.
Abigail tapped a finger against her chin, "So how do we find out who and why?"
"Yes; well we happen to know why, think of it; we go to the Planet to form a treaty. Who will have the most reason for us to fail?" finished Peter as he unbuttoned his collar and looked at the padds.
Abigail tilted her head, "What does that mean Peter?" He seemed to be talking in riddles.
"It means it's an unknown ship, it's going to be hard to found out who they are," said Peter.
Abigail gave a half scowl, "Why didn't you say so in the first place instead of talking in riddles?"
"Sorry; its just I haven't been talking to many people lately. You've been busy and I've been busy; all I I deal with is Starfleet Command and lawyers," replied Peter.
Abigail laid a sympathetic hand on Peter's, "Hey. Are you still thinking about that? You had to go against Starfleet regulations to bring your father to justice and to save an old love. There is nothing wrong with being loyal to others."
"I know; but still nothing about me; how are you doing?" Asked Peter "We haven't talked in an while," finished Peter.
Abigail hesitated for a moment and then said, "I think Vorn and I are no longer seeing each other."
Peter looked at Abigail and put his hand on her hand and looked at her
"Abi; what happened? You two were so right for each other; please tell me what happened as I am your friend and I would like to know" Finished Peter
"Peter it's..." Abigail didn't want to hurt Peter's feelings. "Peter your my friend, but because of your divided loyalty Vorn is keeping distant from ALL of his crewmembers. Those who were close to him, like me, will experience the cold shoulder. Now that he is off the ship I am worried about him."
Peter took an deep breath as he looked at her in the eyes. The pain that he was feeling on what he had done could be seen as he put his hand on Abi's hand. "Then I will make sure to go down to the Planet and protect him; Don't worry as long as I am there nothing will happen I will make sure of that," finished Peter.
"Peter you don't get it! Vorn doesn't trust us like he used to. Especially those who were in on your little plan. You, me, and that one woman that was helping you prep that shuttle."
Peter took a breath and looked into her eyes for an long moment then spoke.
"What I have done; it's deserved to be the outcast of the crew, but not you Abi. It pains me that what I have done to be loyal and protect the innocent, and the Captain himself; he leaves you. Know this; no matter what, I am your friend and I will never leave you," said Peter with a smile.
"Peter you are my friend as well. I am not trying to blame you, but it pains me that the Captain no longer trusts his crew the way he used to. I feel like an outcast as well." Abigail smiled in return and placed her hands on Peter's, "I don't make snap judgements on others without reason."
"Thank you for the Vote of Conference; I am so sorry that this happened to you but there is something I want you to remember; if ever you have any problems, don't hesitate to come to me even if its 03:30 my doors are always open. I might be a little tired, but I am still here," replied Peter.

"Looks like we're back to work. Come on I will ride with you up to the Conference Room," finished Peter.
Abigail muttered a curse. She stood and followed Peter out of the Lounge.
