Dark Discoveries
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Beginning of Gamma Shift
ON
The young paramedic walked through the doors of sickbay, wondering what he would be awaiting him there for his first shift on the Iapetus. He knew he had been spared having to report directly to the chief of medicine- a prospect he found most intimidating. But, the assistant chief, a terran by the name of Bradley Openhouse, was the physician in command of gamma shift. He knew very little of this individual, only that he had read their name on the duty roster. He wasn't exactly sure of their gender since human names tended to all blend together after a while.
So instead he searched the layout of the medical bay for signs of the authorative figure in question. Finally, he saw a rather tall, muscular man with a lieutenant junior grade's rank pips on his collar. Deciding that this was likely Dr. Openhouse, Linnix did his best to swallow his anxiety and report in for duty.
"Excuse me s-s-sir... Are you Dr. Openhouse?"
Bradley was going over the inventory of the Medical Kits when he heard his name and turned around to see a Trill with the rank of Warrant Officer on his collar.
"Yes I am. How can I help you?" Bradley said.
"I um..." Norvin started before jerking to the position of attention, "Warrent Officer Norvin Linnix, paramedic, reporting for duty, sir."
"Welcome to the Gamma shift Mr. Linnix. Lets step into the office so that I can get some information about your experience and you also need to have a physical done if you have not had one." said Bradley leading the way to the office.
"Aye, sir." the trill said as he quietly followed the doctor into the office, his anxiety had begun to lift.
As the entered the office Bradley sat down behind the desk and motioned for Norvin to take a seat.
"So Mr. Linnix tell me about a bit about your expertise as a Paramedic." said Bradley.
"Well sir," Linnix said as he nervously scratched the back of his head, "I suppose I am rather new at it. I worked as a emergency medical technician for two years before completing my paramedic training. I worked as a paramedic for two more years at Deep Space 14. I was very busy there, it seemed like we were always under attack or on the verge of catastrophe. Anyway, I managed to quite quite a bit of in field trauma experience as well as routine medical tasks while I was there."
"I see so you have experience as a Med Tech and a Paramedic. We could use those on this shift." said Bradley.
"I'd be glad to render my services, sir."
"Glad to hear it. Now lets get that physical out of the way shall we?" said Bradley.
"Aye, sir." Linnix said nervously as he diverted his vision from the human. Though calm when administering care to others, the young trill was a less than perfect patient.
