Admiring the View

Mission:
The Fate of the Swiftsure
Location: USS Iapetus - Ready Room
Timeline: MD1 1756hrs
Vorn was disturbed from his studies of various star charts and reports of newly-discovered phenomena firstly by something brushing against the calf of his leg, followed by dual pressure points as something held itself up by propping its paws on his leg. Looking down, Vorn was greeted by the pleading eyes of his mother's pup, head tilted slightly to one side, as if asking a question. "Sorry boy, I completely forgot," he told the small canine, before standing up and heading towards the ready room's replicator, the dog in tow. "Canine dietary meal 3," he instructed the computer, as it began to materialise the dog food in a suitable bowl within the machine's alcove. Placing it on the floor, he left his pet to begin his evening meal, and strolled towards the windows of his ready room, looking out at the view he had been able to admire all day.
After leaving the Solaria Gateway, and the Alpha and Beta Quadrants with it, the Iapetus had taken up orbit nearby Starbase 900 around Archadia I, otherwise known as Planet Camelot. The Class L planet was the only uninhabited one in the trinary system used by Starfleet as their headquarters in the Delta Quadrant, and its atmospheric clouds created for it a rather unique appearance. Of course, not as unique as the system within which it resided.
The Archadia system was within the Solaria Nebula - a safe pocket within the nebula, as any ship attempting to travese the light years-large cloud of gas would face very real dangers of begin hit by the errant and frequent plasma bursts which the nebula was known for. With gas traces all throughout the system giving it a unique colour, and the lightning-like discharges surrounding the system, Vorn was confident that he hadn't been in any other system like this one.
The rest of what Starfleet called The Round Table was equally as intriguing to him; Starfleet had explored but a fraction of the region classified by this moniker, and it was a densely populated region at that; full of nebulae and unexplored wonders to search out and find. This was where he was truly eager to put the Iapetus' distinct advantages in its sensor packages to use, and do some real exploring for the first time in... well, in a long time.
As his pet beagle hungrily devoured the meal placed before him, Vorn's own stomach began to growl, and remind him that he too hadn't eaten since lunchtime. Grateful with the knowledge that the Iapetus' mess hall and crew lounge had much larger windows than his ready room, he turned and walked out through the crimson doors.
