Deployment Plan

Mission: Heart of an Explorer
Location: USS Iapetus - Ready Room

"Prefect De'Laan," Krace said, speaking to the planetary leader through the terminal in his ready room. "I have good news. My people have found a cure for the virus."

"That is good news, Captain," Prefect responded. "And I apologise sincerely for the incident at your temporary facility. I hear a number of your people were hurt?"

"They are recovering well now, thank you," Krace responded. "One of them was actually infected with the virus himself, and it was through him that we were able to find the cure."

"How soon can you begin synthesising it?"

"My people are already working on that, but my officers have come to me with a deployment plan which I need to clear through you," Vorn said diplomatically. He really just wanted to say it plainly and get it over with, but he knew that he needed to sell the idea to her. "My ship carries a number of warheads which we call photon torpedoes. They can be modified for a variety of uses other than for offence, and we can load these with a aerosol form of the cure. Our computer can then calculate a specific firing pattern in order to be able to spread the virus through your atmosphere almost instantly, and to fall over every part of your planet."

"I'm not sure that my ministers will react well to explosions in the sky, Captain."

"I'm sure they won't," Krace agreed. "But the only alternative is an extensive program of individual injections and innoculations, including those who are infected and already feral. This is the safest way for your own medical personnel, and it will also reach remote areas which your own forces may overlook."

The Prefect sat thinking for a long time before answering. "Very well Captain. You may proceed. I will inform my Ministers and prepare a story to calm the populace."

"Thank you Prefect, we'll get started at once. There is one other thing that you need to be aware of, however." he paused before continuing. "The virus. It was engineered, and by technology that does not exist on your world yet. It came from an outside source."

"How can this be?"

"I don't know Prefect, but believe me when I say that we will find out. I should see to the deployment of the cure; I'll have my officers transmit to you the full details of our findings. Krace out."

The line to the planet closed, Krace opened a line to the bridge as he stood and began to make his way out. "Commander. Load photon torpedo tubes and bring up the firing pattern. Make ready to fire on my command."
