Alien Contact

Posted on Wed Feb 18th, 2009 @ 11:00pm by Captain Vorn Krace

Mission: Dark Discoveries
Location: USS Iapetus - Sickbay
Timeline: MD4 0815hrs

Annalyn returned to sickbay, checked on the Captain, but figured he would sleep for a bit yet. She called Robert over, the day shift Doctor. "I am going to try something, if I cry out, pull me into the Captain's room.

She leaned against the wall just outside the door to that room and started letting down her shields, slowly, sending out a question who are you.

As Annalyn slowly began lowering her mental shields, she heard a multitude of voices, not directed specifically at her, but attempting to get through to the Captain - their attempts invain, the sheer mental power behind the communication resounded so much that it was like standing in an overcrowded room, with every occupant shouting.

Giving a mental shout, ~Hey, one at a time, no one can understand you if you all talk at once, the Captain can't hear you, so forcing him only caused him to be unconscious. If one of you talk at once, I can hear you.~

As if by shock, the volume of the mental voices, died down, but didn't disappear entirely, though it was now at a stage where it would be impossible to discern what each voice was saying - it was almost as if they were talking between themselves. Shortly, though, one voice - which sounded as though it was still a number of voices layered on top of each other, saying the same thing, rose above the murmur.

~We will not allow any more of our number to be harvested. We demand safety!~

~We are not here to Harvest anything so you should be safe that way, but I am unclear by what you mean by harvesting.~

~You lie! Monstrosities of carbon have come before - they have taken some of our number to power their machines! You fly through the stars in a thing of carbon like theirs! You want to harvest us!~ the voice(s) shouted back in return. The tone of the voice was filled with mixed tones of anger and fright, all at once.

Annalyn was confused but getting a general idea. ~Are you saying you are the rocks that make up this Nebula?~

~We are not made of carbon. We do not have 'bodies' the way you know them. We are being harvested to fuel your machines!~

Now Annalyn had to be sounding confused, ~if you have no bodies, then how would we be able to "Harvest" you? Most of our machines have to have a solid base such as a crystal to power our vehicles.~

~We do not understand how you harvest us, we just know that we are being killed to fuel your machines!~

At that moment, a bang could be heard from within the room that Vorn was lying in. A few moments later, the Captain was leaning heavily on the doorway after obviously pushing past the nurse next to his bed.

"I need to get to the bridge." he said, sounding pained.

Annalyn grabbed his arm. "No I need you here, I am in contact with the aliens, they say they won't be harvested anymore."

"I know. I need to get to the bridge, I need to help them." Vorn said, as he started to move towards the exit of sickbay, making use of the furnishings to help him get there.

Annalyn concentrated and translocated him back onto the bed, "You will stay on that bed or I will turn the restraints on, Captain. I need information, not you running around the ship passing out where ever."

Vorn looked at his CMO, clearly angry. "Lieutenant, it takes enough effort trying to convince these entities that we are not here to harm them. I don't have time to sit here and explain to you, nor do I have to. I need to get to the bridge and act." he insisted.

Annalyn walked over and opened a cupboard, to reveal a full computer system. "Captain, don't make me relieve you from duty, you have a complete computer system here, you have your comm badge what more can I get for you. I am in contact with the beings when I am outside this room, but you are physically not able to make it to the bridge, you were bouncing off the furniture. Passing out in the hallway will not help either them or you."

"Lieutenant, I will not argue with you. I am the Captain of this ship, and I am perfectly capable of carrying out that duty. I will be going to the bridge, even if I have to remove you from duty to get there." Vorn said. It was clear that he wasn't going to let this drop. "I cannot help anyone from sickbay." That said, he stood and began making his way to the door again, much surer on his feet than before.

~MEN!~ She thought as she followed after him to make sure he got where he was going, they were going to have to talk about the CMO duties when this was all over and her duty to keep her Captain from killing him self.
