Personal Log, Chief Engineer Zim Drex: Stardate 62777.3

Cutscene: A flyby of the Iapetus at warp, followed by several cuts of the Chief Engineer trotting through the corridors, greeting and saying hello to his crewmates in passing.
"The Iapetus is holding course toward Starbase 102, and much to my surprise, I've been informed that I'll be accompanying the away team on a shuttle mission. Captain Krace has charged me with modifying the Type 9 shuttle so that it is disguised among the various raiding vessels that frequent this 'Pirate's Haven'. I'm feeling confident that I'll be able to modify the shuttle convincingly, but to be honest, I have no idea what to expect once we get there."
Cutscene: Drex taps on a PADD in Main Engineering, going over the schematics and energy emissions of the shuttle.
"I've decided to modify the energy signature of the shuttle using old information in the ship's database on the Maquis. The appearance modifications are the easy part. I'll make the vessel look like its crew has had to scavenge for some time. Most importantly, I need to ensure the transporter system can be operated by remote--just in case things get a little hairy over there."
Cutscene: Drex lifting and scrutinizing over a piece of circuitry in the cargobay, then carrying it back to main shuttlebay.
"I'm proud to be a part of the mission. And exploring the unknown is what Starfleet is all about. But I'm a little nervous about this mission: My first on the Iapetus. The Captain has put a lot of confidence in me and the others, and I know I can perform well in these kinds of situations, but first impressions are hard to shake, particularly if they go wrong."
Cutscene: Tight shot of Drex squinting over the sights of a Type 3 phaser rifle, zooming out to show that his aim is on the shuttlecraft. A phaserbolt courses through the air between the weapon and the shuttle, scoring the secondary hull with enough char to make it look like it had been in a space battle. Drex circles to another location, continuing his low-energy phaser sweeps. The Assistant Chief stands nearby with a tricorder, recording notations.
"Fortunately I have plenty to keep busy on. Enough at the moment to make the Bellerophon look like a Risean pleasure cruise." A pause. "Computer," -beep beep- "Delete last sentence." -boop beep boop- "Anyway, the crew seems friendly, and although they're not the crew of the Bellerophon, and my Assistant Chief is part Vulcan, I feel I could learn to like it here."
"After all, I'm a likable guy."
