[Log Begins]

The Iapetus has finally made her way into the Delta Quadrant to join up with Task Group 38; it's an exciting time for all of us but I've noticed a slight undercurrent of tension among some of the crew, especially the younger personnel.

It is only after extensive research that my own apprehension and fears were allayed. I imagine they hold the same preconceptions about the Delta Quadrant that I had, having heard all the stories from the Voyager and Pathfinder projects. Borg and hostile races surrounding you on all sides with only your wits and some phaser arrays to get you out alive.

There's no greater fear than the fear of the unknown and, for some of these guys, the Delta Quadrant is a brave new world where everyone wants to kill you and no-one has any interest in talking or diplomacy. I have no doubt that Chris will be preparing himself for the long haul.

In reality, there's nothing to really back these assumptions up. Sure, there are dangers just like there are in any quadrant or area of space but it's no different to the Alpha Quadrant really. The Task Group has been there for years and there is a fantastic Starfleet and Federation infrastructure here. I imagine that once the crew have been down to Archadia I or 'Camelot' as it's often known, they'll see that the Delta Quadrant isn't as terrifying as they think.

The Round Table is bound to offer us all some opportunity to show our abilities but in honesty, that might be a bit of a stretch for me. I imagine I'll be spending a lot of time over the next couple of months calibrating and recalibrating the tactical scanners and doing inventories of phaser rifles.

Best to be prepared, I suppose. In the mean time, I'm going to the mess hall.
