I have just returned from my meeting with Admiral Wegener, of Task Force 38 command. Though the meeting went well, I am glad to be back onboard the Iapetus - I had forgotten how disconcerting it was walking around onboard another officer's command - it seems so long ago since we stopped over at Deep Space Seven, and Starbase Nine-Hundred is so much busier than that. I am glad to be back onboard my own ship.

The Admiral has issued us with our new orders, and I must admit I am slightly disappointed in their nature. I had hoped to be setting out for some back-to-basics exploring; heading out into uncharted space, or performing an in-depth study of the Solaria Nebula. Nevertheless, our mission is an important one, and I will see it out as I always do with pride and duty. The orders are as follows;

Captain Krace,

Starfleet has continued its exploration of space in the Delta Quadrant and though the risk of a future Borg attack is at the front of the minds at Starfleet Command, the need to explore, make new allies and secure new resources is vital. For some time now agreements were made for the star charts of unexplored regions. This has, for a while, been of benefit to Starfleet, however the loss of one of our ships and the subsequent investigation leaves us to believe that one of the star charts was altered to hide a spacial disturbance that destroyed the U.S.S. Swiftsure. The supplier of this particular chart was a trusted one however Intelligence has yielded information that it is possible he is being manipulated by a third party.

We have since lost contact with the supplier. While we cannot ignore what the Intelligence indicates it is also possible that the changes were made of his own will or that he was paid by an unknown party. All options are currently suspected but we would like you to find out the truth and, if possible, bring him in for questioning. He was last seen in the Drekasta System. A system devoid of any planets but home to a dense asteroid belt rich in exotic metals. There is a large mining/trading station on the outskirts of the system which might supply some information, however caution should be advised. Due to the remote region of space the area is home to a hive of illegal activities and, as a result, any away team should be prepared for anything. Hostage situations are common on the station and the station police are not so inclined to act unless it suits them.

His known personal ship is a Type 3 passenger ship, unarmed though unconfirmed reports have indicated the shield system has been greatly updated with the transponder ATX-995-3KT . While these rumors have not been confirmed it would stand to reason that a man in his position would need some added defense.

Due to the density of the asteroid belt, despite the marked safety lanes, it would not be recommended to send a starship inside. It is suggested that small support craft be sent with the starship waiting at the ingress point.

Signed,

Rear Admiral Wegener
Commanding Officer, Task Force 38

In a way, I suppose we are sailing into the unknown, though of a different kind to what I expected. We have very little information to go in with, and we must return with some for Starfleet Command. I only hope that we find this supplier without too much of a stain on his allegiances to us. It sounds as if we would profit from further association with him, if he is still loyal to us.
