Captain's Log, Stardate 65146.9

We have finally set out along our journeys in the Delta Quadrant, our mission being to locate the star chart supplier Varro and determine whether he is still loyal to the Federation, and if so, how or why the star chart that led to the destruction of the starship Swiftsure was tampered with.

It has taken us three days in order to navigate the Safe Passage out of the Solaria Nebula. Our flight control department performed quite well for themselves; the Passage's name is deceiving, as it is only a narrow and ever-changing route through the plasma storms, whose intensity varies widely on a day-to-day basis. Though not exactly the safest of environments to be progressing into, I look forward for an opportunity to study the nebula in more detail at a later date; I'm certain that the Iapetus' sensor package would prove most effective in beginning to chart it more extensively.

For now however, we have set course for Drekasta at maximum warp, and are due to arrive there within ten days. Hopefully Varro will not have taken that time to depart for another system, else this may turn into a relay race between our two ships, with us unaware of the destination or the stops along the way. Drekasta is a dangerous system enough from the reports I have been given, however. Far from the order of the Federation out here, the system is often visited by rouges, pirates and other unsavoury sorts, and as such I have ordered us to be at constant yellow alert from the moment we arrive in-system. What makes it worse is that the asteroid density in the field is so high as to pose a direct risk to the ship herself; we will be sending teams in via shuttlecraft instead, and so I imagine the flight control staff will continue to be busy even after the Iapetus herself has come to a halt.
