Computer-Systems Section Leader Log Stardate 65331.65
Posted on Fri Sep 23rd, 2011 @ 3:38am by Petty Officer 1st Class Donald McTaggart
Today Petty Officer Moran, myself, and Bravo Team went through an early routine PMCS on the Bioneural subsystems on dek 8. There were complaints of slow terninals and erroring data in sections 7-19, logged in both mine and Petty Officer Moran's NCO-reports on Stardate 65329. We commenced networking diagnostics at 0515 hours, and narrowed the problem to Bioneural Nodes 8-Charlie through Gamma and and that was a start. We eliminated node Gamma, Echo, then Foxtrot by 0630, and Delta was trickier, but was also cleared around Noon. We broke for Lunch, and began checks at Charlie at 1250 hours. All B-E-R test came back at a 45-67% Bit Error Rate. With Authorization from the Chief Engineer, we bypassed the node and tore it apart. Bravo team quickly and efficiently tested and PMCS'ed each component, till we found the issue around 1630 hours.
Diagnosis: Improperly Calibrated 6A-P4 Bioneural Modulator. Data was pushed through to th Bio-Gelpacks incorrectally, which was compunded by the Gelpacks Demodulation on the distant end.
Actions taken: Replaced 6A-P4 and brought Faulty 6A-P4 to shop to be repaired and put into parts inventory.
Prognosis: System will return to operational norms.
{Sigh}Tomorrow Alpha and Bravo teams will be in the Shop PMCS-ing parts and running routine network Diagnostics, Umm-- Charlie will continue assisting in the PMCS of the Communications array....
Aaaaand I have completed my NCO-ER's and will turn them in to Lt. Drex tomorrow Morning. end of report.
