Physical for Commander Walex

Mission: Into a Devil's Heart

Jade was in the main sickbay of the Iapetus. She was doing her assigned work on board as the newest medical officer. Although she was a cadet and rather young she was still being trusted with the care of the hypospray vials and their cataloging.

Acle sighed as he exited the turbo-lift. Before him, down the corridor a little ways, sat the door to Sickbay. He disliked doctors almost as much as he disliked psychologists, however, he was overdue for his physical by a good portion of time. In fact, he had never even received his medical debrief after his away mission. Visions of a wrathful CMO descending upon him forced his feet towards the hatch.

Acle walked in, looking around, faint hope on his face that it would be to crowded and he would have to come back later. His hope died however, as he saw that he would be the only patient. He stepped more fully inside and looked about, unsure about where to go. The few times he had gone to sickbays like this he was usually unconscience or could care less about what it looked like.

The shift nurse walked up, "What can we do for you Commander?"

Acle started to shift on his feet, but, stopped himself. Why did doctors make him feel like this? He even liked this particular doctor (well, when she was not being a doctor to him anyway).

"I am here for my medical physical nurse." He said.

"Please have a seat on Biobed 1 and I will get the Doctor."

Acle nodded once then went into the area with the beds in it. He looked at the numbers on the beds and sat on the one with the number one on it. He managed to not fidget while he waited and instead took the time to analyze his surroundings. The exits and extraction points of the room, where personnel were, even potential weapons.

Acle shook himself firmly. "Just a physical..." Acle muttered to himself. He could face down platoons of enemy agents, but, a doctor made him nervous? The thought caused Acle to lighten up slightly, and he relaxed somewhat.

Annalyn entered the room with the nurse behind her, and rounded up her Cadet. "I want you to learn to do Physicals, Jade."

"Ok Sir" Jade said nervously as she picked up a tricorder. She knew that it involved some sort of scanning and she thought it would be best if she had one, just incase.

Moving to Biobed one, "Good afternoon Commander, do you mind if Jade does most of the physical?"

"Good afternoon Doc." Acle replied out of reflex before his mind put what had been said to him in front of his conscience. It didn't really make a difference who did the physical... Just that it got done with so he wouldn't have to come back in here as a patient for a while. Besides, Acle had never had a training exercise made out of himself before. "Uh... Why not?" Acle said, offering a somewhat roguish grin to the cadet.

"Ok, First we have the Commander Lay Back so the nurse can get blood for the blood test, and while she does that, we record the biobed readings. You do know what those mean don't you?"

Acle laid back onto the biobed, awaiting further instructions.

The Nurse took some blood, and left.

Noting that Jade had gotten the biobed report down, she handed her the tricorder. "Start at his head and slowly work down his body, making notes of any thing unusual."

Jade did as she was told and slowly moved the hand scanner that detached from the back of the tricorder and began to work her way down from his head. She studied the screen as she did so, it showed no anomalous or weird readings.
"All shows green" she said.

"Now keep working your way down his body."

Jade ran the scanner down the body of the commander. "all seems fine" Jade reported showing her the tricorder.

Annalyn nodded, "so Commander you are free to leave. If anything should show up in your blood work I will call you back."

Acle sat up, a raised eyebrow popping up. "That was rather painless..." He said somewhat dryly before jumping off the bed. "Thank you Lieutenant, thank you Cadet." he said. He almost appeared to be jovial as he turned to exit from the area.
