Mission: Into a Devil's Heart
Location: USS Iapetus/Starbase Ronin
Timeline: MD03 1053hrs

As Vorn's screen materialised for the third time into a new face, he saw the distinctive features of an asian man form infront of him. "Lieutenant Li, I'm Captain Vorn Krace, CO USS Iapetus," he said, getting straight to formal introductions.

Xerin was already snapping to attention at the first glance of more rank pips than his. "Lieutenant Xerin Li sir," he said. "A pleasure to meet you sir."

"I'll keep this brief, Lieutenant. One of our own has gone awol, and has stolen the USS Lincoln on some sort of personal mission. You are ordered to consider any orders given to you by Commander Peter Brown to be null and void, is that understood?"

For a full thirty seconds Xerin said nothing, blinking at the incredible words. "Y-yes sir, understood," he said finally. What the hell was going on here? he thought.

"Good. Now, the Iapetus is still a day or so out, and so I've ordered our Chief of Security, who's on the station with you, to launch the investigation into this matter from Ronin's end until we get there." Vorn didn't pause much as he gave the orders to the newest addition to his crew, feeling the need to get back to the staff onboard ship and push as hard as he could to get them to Ronin faster. "I'd like you to help him out. We need to know how Brown managed to get access to steal the Lincoln, and if possible, try and find possible ways of discovering where he is going. From what the station's Commander tells me, he used a decoy shuttle's explosion to throw off targeting sensors, which allowed him to escape with the ship. It also prevented sensors from getting a lock on his heading."

Xerin's mind started working on two tracks at once. On one level, he was horrified by the idea that a Starfleet officer would go rogue. On the other hand, the technical part of his mind started tracking back the series of events and what he knew of station systems, trying to determine how someone could steal a vessel from a secure Starfleet installation. His attention snapped back to his new Captain. "Aye sir, I have a couple of ideas and I'll do everything I can sir." He decided to risk a request. "Sir would it be possible to get all information concerning the officer in question and the event? Even before the theft? The more information I have access to, the easier it will be for me to extrapolate future events." There was a mystery here, Xerin knew, and there was nothing he liked more than a mystery.

"The station's computer should have an uplink to Starfleet Command - that should give you access to his service record. For any other information, you can review our database once we arrive." As with his conversation with Jordan, he was ever aware of the fact that the station's CIO was monitoring them.

"I had best get back to the crew onboard - I need to brief them on the situation. We'll talk more when I arrive, Lieutenant." With that final comment, Vorn closed the channel.
