Pre-Arrival Briefing
Posted on Sun Sep 6th, 2009 @ 3:40pm by Captain Vorn Krace & Commander Acle Walex & Lieutenant Commander Abigail Valera & Lieutenant Bradley Openhouse
Mission:
Into a Devil's Heart
Location: USS Iapetus - Briefing Room
Timeline: MD03 1058 hours
Vorn tapped his combadge as he walked, leaving his ready room even as his computer terminal was still retreating into his desk and heading out for the briefing room. "All senior staff, report to the briefing room."
As he entered the large room, the viewports showing the streaked stars of warp travel over the sloping forward hull of the Luna class starship. Walking towards the chair at the head of the table, he turned and faced the door, waiting for the others to arrive.
Still adjusting her uniform, Annalyn entered the room, and sat down a padd.
Acle sat down his mug of steaming liquid onto his desk. Before him were scattered various reports and personnel dossiers. A star chart of the local area could even be found on one corner of his heavily laden desk. Acle sighed, then rubbed his eyes.
=/=All senior staff, report to the briefing room.==
Acle removed his head from his hands, then looked at his desk. He grabbed all the secured documents and sealed them in the appropriate safe before locking his computer and concealing it as well. He then stood up and smoothed his uniform before heading to the briefing room. He paused mid-way there, then turned, and grabbed his padd as well as the steaming mug of coffee, then turned to continue his journey, mug in hand, padd under his arm.
Upon arriving, Acle found only two other members of the senior staff waiting. He nodded his greeting and went to his preferred chair, taking a sip of the still hot liquid.
Abigail rushed out of her quarters and brushed down her uniform. She, Annalyn, and Bradley had taken about two hours in the holodeck for some relxation when they got the call. Abigail was sad to be going back to work, but also happy as well because that meant she could give a report on what her department would be doing. She entered the briefing room and nodded to the other officers already there.
Bradley walked into the briefing room and headed over to the replicator and got a glass of sweetened Iced Tea and sat down at the table.
"Department readiness reports, people." Vorn said, leaning heavily on the end of the table while still standing.
Acle consulted his PADD that he had almost forgotten to bring. "Sir, Intelligence reports a condition of ready. Although we are down one member-" a muscle in the side of Acle's face twitched ever so faintly and stopped so fast that one might mistake it for one's imagination. "Our department is still running smoothly. I will admit that I am backed up on dispatches, but, I am rectifying that problem quickly. Exaine also just cracked another Klingon code as well, although that was more along the lines of a hobby then anything official." Acle finished, then took a long drink from his mug. He looked down at it and noticed disappointingly that it was almost empty.
Annalyn looked down at the Padd in front of her. "Sickbay really has nothing to report. Crew is healthy, everything is running smooth."
"The Morale on the ship a bit on the low side due to the memorial service. I am planning on checking up on some of the crew to see if there is anything I can do to help." said Bradley.
"Alright then. I'll get right down to the point." Vorn began. The fact that Peter was out there somewhere was really pulling at him now, and he was visibly anxious to get out there and find him. "I've just had a very... interesting conversation with the CO of Starbase Ronin. Peter was there."
Acle very nearly dropped his mug. He cursed silently. If he had bothered to check his dispatches, he would have known about this... He had received a priority message from Harthage, an old colleague, but, had shifted it aside for other priority messages.
Bradley was a bit shocked. He still did not understand why Peter left his post and go rouge.
"Unfortunately, he wasn't there for long, staying only long enough to order the members of our crew awaiting pickup there to confine themselves to quarters, and for him to steal the USS Lincoln. He is now on the run and is to be considered renegade." He knew that the others who had worked with Peter over the last two years would hate just as much as Vorn did that such a word be attached to the man, but it was by his own actions. "I will be telling Starfleet that we will be handling this matter ourselves. Not only is he my Executive Officer, but he is in my old ship. I and this crew are the closest things to experts on what he can do that there are, so I'm certain that Command won't get in our way."
Acle agreed silently with the Captain. He would make sure of that the Iapetus was the one to go after them. He would pull in a few favors if it was required.
While listening to what the Captain was saying Bradley began to pull up Peter's latest Psychological profile.
"Now, I've gotten Lieutenants Gunning and Li who are on the station working on how Peter managed to get access to the Lincoln and steal her from the station. I'm not too happy with trusting people I don't even know with such a thing, but since they're there and we're here, I have no choice. Acle, what's our ETA to Ronin?"
"Tomorrow at 1315 Sir."
"OK. That gives us a day to get prepared on this end. I want you all working on any way you can think of that will help us track down Peter, and bring him into custody, before he does something else stupid." Vorn continued. "When he fled from Ronin, he destroyed one of our shuttles inside their shields, throwing off their sensors enough so that they couldn't get a lock on his heading. Abigail; I want your department to work on any theories that will help us find some way of knowing where he's going."
Abigail nodded, "Yes sir. I'll have my department start working right away. Is there anything else you would like my department to do Captain?"
"You can work on side projects if you like, but finding Peter is your number one priority." Vorn replied.
Abigail nodded and put a note in her padd. 'Find Peter' was put in the top priority list.
"Acle; I want you to do the debrief of Ashley, before we reach Ronin," he continued. "Find out anything you can from her that can help. Keep her either in the brig, or confined to quarters, whichever you think is most appropriate following what she tells you."
Annalyn looked up from the notes she was taking. "She is still in sickbay, in PR6. She is still experiencing nausea so I have not released her.
"Aye Aye Captain... I will see to it immediately. If you will excuse me Sir?" Acle said, making as if to rise.
Vorn simply nodded his permission, and then waited until the intelligence operative had left to perform his task. "Does anyone else have anything that they think they can contribute to finding Peter? Even if it's not job-related."
"Sir, since he has been a member of this ship, I can sense him if I try hard, at least enough to get a general direction he is heading, if that will help any?" Annalyn waited for any comment.
"I know you have telepathic abilities, but.... how does it make it any difference with him being a member of the crew?" Vorn asked. He still didn't understand the differing types and degrees of telepathy which a number of species had, and probably never will do, so the scientific side of him was always curious.
"That is more empathy than telepethy. It is just something that is particular to our clan. Once we work on someone, like I did when we got shoved into another space with the Amazon, I can find that person again, and I will know if they get hurt, or are ill. I could not tell what he is thinking but I can tell which direction he has gone at the distance from us he is right now."
Vorn nodded, understanding a bit more. "OK, well I think that it would be best if you put that talent to use tomorrow, after we arrive. I'm sure it will be helpful, but it won't provide us with where he's going unless we can combine it with other clues, and it would be easier on all of us if we can gather it all starting from one point - Ronin."
"If that is all? Dismissed."
