Counselling Session

Posted on Mon Feb 8th, 2010 @ 12:57pm by Captain Vorn Krace & Lieutenant Bradley Openhouse

Mission: Borderline Diplomacy
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: MD02 2119hrs

Wondering how Captain Krace was doing since the Court Martial of his first officer Peter Brown Bradley wanted to see how Krace was handling it.

Walking up to the Captain's Ready Room Brad pressed the door chime.

"Come," Vorn said, as he took another sip of his coffee. The ever-present PADD was held in his other hand as he sat on his ready room's couch-come-bunk, with data on the Bevrudl scrolling across the screen. He looked up as Bradley entered, and placed the PADD down on the desk beside him. "Counsellor. What can I do for you?"

"Actually I was wondering if there was anything I can do for you. Maybe give an ear about what happened with Commander Brown." said Bradley.

Vorn sighed, having known that this session would be coming sooner or later. "Have a seat, Counsellor. Would you like anything to drink?" He asked, as he stood to get himself a coffee.

"Hot Chocolate please." said Bradley taking his offered seat..

Sitting back down, cup in hand, Vorn collected his thoughts on the subject of Peter to relay to his Counsellor as he handed him his drink. "Even after two months on patrol, I'm not sure if I can wholly trust the man," he said.

"Why is that? Is it because he betrayed you as first officer or as a Starfleet officer?" asked Bradley before taking a sip of his hot Chocolate.

Vorn took a while to answer, and when he did, he continued to gaze at the floor for a few moments, as if still thinking. "Because he betrayed me as a friend," he said. He looked up, and considered the counsellor for a few moments. "I let him get too close to his Captain personally, and that made me slip up. I failed to notice his change in behaviour. But most of all, he failed to see me as the authoritative figure I should be as his commanding officer. The kind of man who can mislead his commanding officer and friend of two years isn't the kind of man who can be easily trusted again."

"I see. And you feel that if you didn't let him get close to you you would have caught onto what he was planning to do before he did it." said Bradley.

"Partly," Vorn replied, nodding. "Perhaps if he hadn't of seen me as a friend before a commanding officer, he would have thought twice about trying it, too."

"I may be stepping out of bounds here but some Commanding Officer's form friendships with their First Officer's to better help out in a situations, while others would rather uphold the chain of command and keep it that way." said Bradley hoping that the Captain understood where he was going.

"But we can't do both," Vorn muttered to himself. "The trust he has lost will not be easily regained," he said strongly, after a sigh. "I will be keeping a close eye on him during this mission to Bevrudl."

Looking at the clock on his captain's desk. "Well I am sure the friendship will return in time." said Bradley. "If there is anything I can do to help you deal with what has happened just let me know."

"Thank you, Counsellor," Vorn said, as the two stood and faced eachother briefly, before Bradley turned to leave the room.
