Settling In

Location: Intelligence Office - USS Iapetus

Peter walked into the Intelliegence Chief's office. He took an breath as it brought back memories of his hidden secret past. Even though he walked away from it, knowing that he could be reactivated again was unsettling.

"Hello, Commander. I got the latest update from Starfleet Command. Also how are you finding the crew?" asked Peter.

"Good afternoon, Commander. I'm still getting settled in to my new position. I wasn't expecting a transfer so soon. To be honest, I haven't spent much time with the crew. People in my position aren't as easy to be friends with, as you may have noticed in your career."

Peter motioned to have an seat and took at looking at the Intelligence Officer then took an deep breath.

"Yes; as in our choices we make it isn't easy making friends I am aware of that but you got an friend in me; as I must be aware my file is an interesting one at that First Officer breaking security protocols for half an sector;" Replied Peter with an smile.

Sara took a seat at her desk across from Peter. "I am familiar with your file, Commander. I made sure I was familiar with everyone on the away team as soon as you touched down. I always make sure I know who I'm working with before they know about me."

She sat in silence a moment, sizing up the officer across from her. "I will keep in mind what you said about having a friend in you. Do not take this personally, but I have found friends to be nothing but a liability. I've had too many bad experiences with any relationship beyond professional."

"Understood, Commander; but remember, if you need anything let me know. I know our life is a hard one, but sometimes having friends on this ship could help you on future missions." finished Peter.

"Thank you for the advice, Commander. If you'll excuse me, I have some work to get to. I'm sure we will be working closely together on our next mission."
