Timeline: MD4 2100hrs

"I understand most wholly about that then. Perhaps, if one could construct a weapon that itself could generate nebula gases, or at least analogs to said gases, then there could be a certain problem with that I understand. Think of the destruction and havoc one could reek."

The crewman nodded, taking in what the senior man said. "I understand, Sir." A long silence then followed, while Taylor brought himself up the courage he needed to ask yet another question linked to his concerns.

"Sir, if I may ask; do you know what we're doing here? I mean, I've heard that long range sensor sweeps have been ordered, and some of my friends were out doing modifications on the external vents earlier today."

"I personally do not know. I am not going to lie. However, I feel that when Starfleet is always doing this, and keeping everything secret from us, it actually leads to lower morale. I think its a bureaucratic thing though - the guys that decide that sort of thing don't understand the psychology of a crew. I doubt they mean to make us think something is going to kill us." Ah, how blunt.

Taylor nodded, somewhat frantically. "Y-yes Sir." He was at least glad that the Chief disliked not being told anything - even though he was sure that as a senior staff member, he'd know if something was going on on the ship - but the part about something going to kill them... didn't really alleviate the Crewman's worries.

"Should I leave you to your work then, Sir?"

"You do not wish to stay with me? Is it because of where we are?"

"I just thought..." Taylor stopped himself there. If he carried on the way he was going, he was going to make even more of a fool out of himself than he already had. "What do you need, Sir?"

"To be honest, I need you to trust me. Why did you cut off what you were saying just there? Is there some sort of problem?"

"I didn't mean to offend you, Sir. Its just that... I'm not used to talking with ranking superior officers like this, Sir." Taylor replied.

"You did not offend me at all. When I am done with this work, would you prefer that we go elsewhere, perhaps?"

At that moment, Taylor's com-badge beeped. =/=Crewman Cross report to engineering.=/= came the voice of what Taylor recognised to be one of the Ensigns in engineering.

=/=On my way.=/= He replied, tapping his chest. "I'm sorry Sir, but I have to go now," he told the Master Chief

"I understand."
