[Log Begins]

I've just had some bad news.

Ha.

"I've just had some bad news." That sounds so trivial and mawkish. "I've just had some bad news, my sonic shower's on the blink and I'm going to have to start my shift stinking like a Klingon's laundry basket."

I suppose I'll try again.

My brother's dead.

It's hard to say. Details are sketchy and I don't really know much more than what Father told me in his subspace message. We're so far out and the number of relays that it had to come through meant that I couldn't actually discuss it with him. Apparently Alexander's station was bombed by some new pirate group in Galactic South.

Like I said, there aren't many details but it looks like he died either in the blast or in trying to get people away from the after burn. I don't know. I really don't. I feel so helpless. I saw my father's eyes burning from the tears. I don't think I've ever, ever seen him cry. Is that what it takes?

I don't know what to do.

For the time-being, I suppose I've just got to focus on my own work. I've called Drex and a science bod to go over the infection spread for the planet. Something doesn't sit right.

Nothing sits right at the moment.
