Captain's Log, Stardate 64702.4

Posted on Tue May 14th, 2013 @ 8:47pm by Captain Vorn Krace

The Iapetus is finally out of drydock and on her way towards our first assignment back in the Alpha Quadrant. It's just a milkrun essentially, but it will be a good chance for us to stretch our legs and test out a few of our upgraded systems whilst we're at it.

It will be strange operating with an almost entirely new senior staff configuration, but like all things it will be something to get used to. We're still short a few officers, but we have stand-ins for the moment until Starfleet can send us replacements as time permits. I unfortunately had to allow the transfer our my chief engineer last-minute before our departure, which means that I'm going to have to get along with someone else who doesn't have the same level of knowledge with our new systems as Lieutenant Cohen did. In the meantime, I believe Commander Walex has been keeping up to date with the details during our refit, so I will be relying on him to liaise with engineering until we get the position filled.

As simple as our mission is set to be, I am looking forward to getting back out into space. Even though we know much more about our part of the galaxy than the Delta Quadrant, there is still much to be explored here, and I've never liked spending much time away from the ship and our work.
