Mission: Shadows Fall
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: MD02 1039hrs

Winter franticly packed her small backpack laying on her desk in sickbay, all of her notes collected over the last mission had not been in vain, she had prepared for this moment. She was finally going to present her so called "Impossible Idea" with success, yes those Doctor's on the Ganymede had been wrong all along, it was possible and Winter was going to prove it!

She barely turned around when she heard a figure come through the door.

Vorn noticed the quick movements of the doctor as she packed her pack - almost like those of a child about to go to their favourite holiday location, and the sight made him smile. "Going somewhere, Doctor?"

Winter spun around as she grabbed her things. "Yes!" She said pointing at Krace as she walked past him to grab another PADD on the table behind him. "Doctor Verner von Bay is on the starbase and I am going to present my paper on advanced Bioengineering to form anti disease protists within the atmosphere of a planet for mass immunity."

"Mass immunity?" Vorn asked, having had to take a few moments to digest and process what exactly the doctor had said. "So what, you're on about releasing something into the atmosphere of a planet which would eradicate disease?"

"Not eradicate!" Winter said, pointing a finger. "If we did that, there would be a gap in the immune system should it ever adapt. Mass immunization so that the entire populace is immune to it and there is a stronger resistance to the disease and of diseases of a similar nature." Winter explained.

"It sounds groundbreaking," Vorn said. It was clear the doctor was very excited about this research that she had been doing, but Vorn's medical vocabulary was limited to his basic training he received at Starfleet and the studying he had done in the sciences while at the Academy - he had never actually served in the division though, and his academy days were long behind him, faded into memory.

Winter walked towards the door. "It is Captain!" Winter yelled as she walked down the hall, followed by the Captain in tow. "On the Ganymede they all laughed at poor little Doctor Balmorra but now I'm going to prove it to one of the leading minds of the Federation."

Smiling at the Doctor's enthusiasm, Vorn thought it best to ask of her what he had intended to when he went to sickbay, before she got all the way off the ship. "Before you go Doctor, I'm heading down to the surface for a few days. I hear there are certain standard inoculations I need before I go."

Winter didn't turn around to answer his question. "On my desk, administer it to the Carotid artery." She called as she stepped into the turbolift.

Vorn stopped and smiled at the doctor as she entered the turbolift, electing to stay on the current deck himself. She'd obviously anticipated people would be going down to the surface, and made the inoculations ready. "Thank you. Good luck with Doctor von Bay," he managed to say, before the turbolift doors slid shut.
