Danger on the Horizon?

Mission:
Dark Discoveries
Location: USS Iapetus - Briefing Room
Timeline: MD4 0900hrs
Vorn entered the briefing room, feeling much more refreshed, to find a number of the senior staff already there for the meeting he had ordered. He still had a headache, as he could still hear the voices of the nebula beings - he'd have to come up with a name for them, he resolved - but the pain was only a minor thing by now.
He walked directly towards the seat at the head of the desk, but stood just behind it.
Raging Eagle exhaled carefully, looking exasperated as he entered into the room with a great deal of exhaustion on his face. Sighing slowly, he looked about and thought quietly to himself, having things he wanted to say most certainly, but felt that they would truly be left better unsaid than have his mouth opened, only to find his foot placed into it.
Peter entered the the Room then took his Seat then looked at the Captain given an look of are you ok sort of look.
"OK, people. What have you got for me?"
Annalyn stood, she had slipped in just before the Captain. "As are as I can tell, these beings are in about the same state that the beings we met on the last Lincoln voyage. No bodies but whether they ever did, they quit talking. After this is over, we need to talk, you and me."
"I remember that, all too well, it effected my Mind I attacked on other Starship" Said Peter
Vorn shook his head. "I don't think that they're exactly the same as those beings, though they might be close to them. The Brea Rift beings seemed to be able to talk to and influence anyone at their will; they could put the entire crew to sleep. These beings don't seem to have that ability, or anywhere near the scope of it. They're telepathic, that we know, and I have a feeling that it was their combined mental strength which forced their voices into my head."
"But these beings are not what we are here to talk about." Vorn's voice was completely serious now. "Someone has been harvesting them for the metreon particles they emit, and whether these people know they are harming the living or not; metreon energy has a known use as a bioweapon."
Peter looked at Vorn his eyes widened as he took in the information
"May God, Bioweapon if somone is trying to create one of those things, am I correct it can be detected using Warp Particles?" Asked Peter
"Its an extremely dangerous weapon that was originally developed in the Delta Quadrant by a race at war with the Talaxians." Vincent paused for a moment. "There are trace partials once the metreon energy is combined with a magnatheric sub processor it will emit a trail of energy when in warp. I have had the tactical sensors running scans for the past hour and have yet to find the trail."
Vorn sighed as he mulled over the information. "I don't think that they'll have been making the bioweapon here... it's probably more likely that if they are making one, it's at a stationary base or outpost somewhere. I doubt they'd have it aboard the harvest ship. But we can keep trying that thread." He looked around at everyone present. "Have we had any other readings on sensors?"
Abigail shook her head, "Nothing out of the ordinary. I'm trying to make some modifications so we can find that ship. I feel that we may need the information from the harvest ship." Abigail sat back and listened as the talk about a bioweapon was going on, "I can also fix the sensors to find the bioweapon too if you need me to sir. My department would very much like to have something to do."
Lamento looked at Abigail as he interrupted her: “Well if they use warp capable ship, we just need to follow there ion trail that they leave behind. So try finding the most density area of ions and follow the trail from there.â€
Peter mulled over the information from the Senior Officers then pondered somthing
"I suggest we have two Schools of thought, to get all Borders Covered, Tatical will work with Science on finding the Bioweapon and detecting it at Long Range, and Engineering looks for the Ion trail, also if found we need a way to make it inert " Said Peter as he looked at the Captian "Sir, in anyway in your contact with the Aliens have they been able to give us more to go on, its like an Needle in a Hay Stack" Finished Peter
Vorn shook his head. "I'm afraid not. They don't seem to have a proper understanding of our technology - they call starships things like 'monsters of carbon'. They're almost like children."
Peter took an breath as he looked over the situation the came with an idea
"Well, we can do it the old Fashion Way, we get the Link with Starfleet with all known Civilian Vessels in the Area, then we trace there Flight Paths back here, and using Ion trails find the one that fits, as I can see this is the only way" Finished Peter
Abigail nodded, "Yes. I agree with Lt. Cmdr. Brown. It seems the only solution that sounds even achieveable at this point." Abigail's brow furrowed. Right now she was at a loss of what to do without all that information that she had lost. These creatures that lived in the Nebula were more important than data anyway. The young woman brushed back a straying lock of hair and set her mind on helping the people that had inadvertantly hurt her Captain. Abigail then began thinking... what would be a good way to gather data without harming the creatures of the Nebula? Only time would tell for her. Meanwhile she brought her mind back into the present and listend to the rest of the briefing.
"I have been scaning for Ion traces, it looks as though whatever ship came from here scrubbed there ion trail. I don't think we will be able to find them" vincent said
Peter looked at Vincent then looked at the rest of the pepole on the table
"Damn, well then we better do an wide pattern Search, were would be an good place to build an Weapon?" Asked Pepter
Vorn sat up straighter in his chair, as he took in all the suggestions and formulated some orders from them. "OK, here's what we do. Abigail; break out the new stellar cartography lab on Deck 4. I want you to find the 10 nearest systems which it would be feasible to have a station. We can rule out any high-population areas; they'll want a bit of secrecy and seclusion for the project. Find me any stationary asteroid fields in the vicinity too; they've been known to be used to hide stations in before. Enlist anyone you need to help you.
"Peter; I know it's a long shot, but I want you to cross-reference Starfleet's data on ships in the local vicinity, and see if it turns up anything. We won't be able to match any ion signatures, but it helps to cover all our backs.
"Vincent; we don't know how far along their research is, assuming that they are harvesting the metreon for a bioweapon, and so for all we know, they may already be testing it. I want you running sensor sweeps, trying to see if there is any evidence of a testing ground nearby. Work with Annalyn and the medical department to compare any results you have with known quantities of a metreon bioweapon.
"Chief; talk of a bioweapon will have some of the crew panicking if it gets out. The possibility of one stays in this room, but we have some bright minds onboard. People may come to the same conclusions we have when they hear that someone has been harvesting metreon energy. You're on morale duty; if anyone does get concerned, if you hear and rumours flying around; try to keep the calm and the peace. I also want you to replicate as many gas masks as you can, and store them in inconspicuous places around the ship, incase we get infected and the ship's failsafes fail. Do it discretely; if people see you walking around blatantly with an armful of gas masks, they will panic for sure."
The Chief of the Boat rose his brow laughing a bit, "I'll make sure to do that in the most discrete way possible. It really should be easy you know, based on the fact that we don't use gas masks any more."
"Lamento; again assuming that this is a bioweapon, we don't know how desperate these people will be to protect it. I want you working on two things; the first is to make sure that our shields are operating at top effectiveness for keeping transport beams out, and that our hull's external vents can be sealed in case they try to infect the ship, and the second is incase they do. I want you to work on a sub-routine in our life support systems to flush out all contagens the moment they're detected. It won't be a catch-all if the substance is something that the computer doesn't recognise as harmful, so link it in with the ship's internal sensors, and automatically quarantine any area that contains crewmembers showing possible symptoms. See if Annalyn has any specialists in that area to help you with that."
"Only Me Sir."
Vorn nodded.
"Acle, I want you to help him with any knowledge you've gained through your work too. I also want you to work your contacts, see if you can find any reference to the activities here."
Acle had been silent throughout much of the meeting, simply listening to the others. His mind had been anything but though. He had been going over in his head several possible avenues that he could take to find this weapon, not all of them strictly legal...
"Aye Aye Sir. I'll look into it right away. I might have a contact in the area that would be able to help nicely..." Acle said.
Raging Eagle looked up again, thinking to himself before speaking. "If you want to hide something, you only have three dimensions in which to place it, right? Well, what if this could be placed into time? It could litterally be hidden a few seconds into the future, outside of our grasp. The computer reads no strong energy burst, and the concept of Equivilant Exchange states that for an equation to be balanced, something must be lost to be gained. However, 20th century Earth physicist Albert Einstein theorized that all forces of energy are a Unified Field. This Unified Field Theory states that there could very well be a transfer of energy to mass, and vice versa, directly to overcome Equivilant Exchange here. Is this a viable option?"
"Let's just hope that they haven't hidden it in time, otherwise they're a lot more advanced than we can hope to expect, and a bigger danger to us and the Federation." Vorn replied.
Vorn paused for a moment, going through a quick mental checklist to ensure that he hadn't forgotten anyone. "You have your orders."
