Allison laughed heartily with a gusto reminiscent of her brother as Dillen's body contorted in snorting joviality. Jordan simply sipped at his drink, eyes alight at the sight of his joke hitting the right note with his junior officers. The bar was relatively quiet despite the recent shift change. The officers sat at a table away from the centre of the room, away from the few medical officers who were clearly stressing with the new Chief Medical Officer coming into the department.
Jordan allowed himself a chuckle. Allie and the rest of his department had been in the same boat a few months ago. He had come aboard the Iapetus and found himself wanting to change the way the department was run. Luckily the good Doctor didn't have to deal with grieving department members.
Winter was jotting down somethings on a PADD as she walked towards the turbolift, and noticed the bar as she passed it. She had just finished her duty shift and had previously decided she would join the night shift, but being a little late for the night shift wouldnt hurt. She walked through the glass doors and into the gold and black lounge that had a lowely view of the bow. She noticed some of the MED officers tighten up, while some were still laughing from a joke that someone had told.
Abigail was just leaving the lounge after a well deserved meal and nearly collided with a young Lieutenant. On closer inspection Abigail realized that this was probably the new CMO, "You're the new Chief Medical Officer right? Its so good to finally meet you." Abigail flashed the other woman a smile.
Winter still had a firm hold on the PADD, but her white hair was another story. She brushed her hair to the side and revealed a young woman in sciences turqoise. "Yes I'm Doctor Winter Balmorra, I just transfered here from the Ganymede, Commander." Winter said as she tilted her head to see the three pips on Abigail's collar.
"Welcome aboard the Iapetus Doctor. How do you like it so far?" Abigail beckoned Winter inside the lounge. She turned and reentered the lounge. She found an empty table near the entrance and sat down.
Jordan patted Allie on the back and stood up, moving toward the table by the door to the two women with teal collars. "Ladies!" He exclaimed in boisterous tone. "I don't believe we've been socially introduced yet. Jordan Gunning, at your service."
Abigail looked Jordan over carefully. He seemed somewhat familiar, "Weren't you a member of the USS Lincoln before the crew transfered here to the Iapetus?"
"No, ma'am. I came aboard when the ship docked at Starbase Ronin. Most of my senior security staff are also new to the vessel."
Abigail nodded. "It's nice to meet you Lieutenant. Welcome aboard the Iapetus."
"You too, Commander. And you doctor. How are you settling in?"
"Very well Lieutenant, my sickbay is wonderful." Winter explained with pride. "I'm also very excited about our next mission, we'll be passing by Tyran and I might be able to see my Parents." Winter said.
"Excellent." Jordan said with a wide grin. "Getting to pop in home's always lovely."
Abigail smiled and said, "I'd like to meet your parents. They sound nice." Abigail was enjoying herself with Jordan Gunning and Winter Balmorra. Abigail hadn't had this much fun since she first joined the former Lincoln crew before they became the Iapetus crew.
"Can we throw a party or something?" Asked Jordan who was pretty much always up for putting on some kind of civic function.
Abigail looked at Jordan, "Sure. Make a list of who you want to invite, ideas for the theme, and any other thing a party needs. Make sure to let the Captain know so he knows what's going on. Maybe even invite him. He's a good soul to know." Abigail smiled at Jordan and hoped that this party would be fun.
"Absolutely. I think he could do with something to take his mind off things, to be honest." Jordan said. He had been considering going to speak with the Captain again regarding his feelings and his state but after all, he wasn't a counsellor- just part El-Aurian.
"I agree with you there Mr. Gunning. Get started with the preperations and send out invitations. If you need help with the list then you can always ask me," Abigail said pleasantly.
Winter laughed as shook her head. "Whoa, whoa wait, you are throwing a party for an artist and a planetary delegate to the Federation." Winter laughed.
"Still, Doctor!" Jordan motioned with his hands, "Any party for any honoured guest still demands the same amount of pomp and circumstance that we would offer a first contact delegation!"
Winter continued to laugh. "Oh Mister Gunning my mother is the one member of the Federation Council you dont want to throw a party for!" Winter laughed. "And my father never goes to any showings of his art works unless its on Tyran." Winter laughed wiping a single laughing tear from her eye.
"Well then, I'm sure they'd love their daughter to give them a tour of an incredible starship." He said with a flourishing hand, conveniently ignoring the drunken behaviour of the enlisted men, rolling around behind them.
"Crewman Furroes." Winter said, gesturing to the drunken man behind them.
Abigail eyed the drunken crewmembers warily. She would turn them in if they stepped out of line. She then turned ot Winter, "Yes, I agree with Mr. Gunning. Give your parents a tour of the Iapetus. I'm sure they'll be impressed."
Winter shrugged. "Possibly."
Jordan smiled at her. "What harm could it do, Doctor? Anyway," he said quietly, "I must get going. It's been a pleasure, ladies."
He stood up as if to leave, his soft tone and serenity remaining in his eyes as he heard a crash behind him. He turned, bellowing, "FURROES! Pull that off again and you'll spend the night in the brig!"
The crewman didn't seem to react in quite the desired manner. He continued in lofty tones about some Klingon battle or other. Jordan approached him and placed a hand on his shoulder before spinning him in his chair.
"Did you hear me, Crewman? Because if you're having trouble then I'll get you in an E.V. suit, blast you into space and the only sound you'll be able to hear is me laughing over the communications system. Now, are we clear?"
"Q-q-q-quite clear, sir."
"Good." Jordan said as he turned to leave with a nod to his staff telling them to keep an eye out.
Abigail shook her head. Crewmen could be rowdy, especially when they were drunk. Now that the crewman had ruined the mood Abigail stood up, "I too must take my leave. If you need anything then I will either be in my office or my quarters. Good day Winter Balmorra." Abigail turned and left the lounge.
