Into The Storm

Posted on Thu Jan 14th, 2010 @ 11:24pm by Captain Vorn Krace & Lieutenant JG Winter Balmorra

Mission: Into a Devil's Heart
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: MD 10 1603

Winter had decided enough was enough, not one call or message from the Captain! She had been on the ship for a day now and he still hadnt contacted her! In fact the only contact she had was with her old friend Axo Minu, now CMO on the Relentless(OOC, she is my character on the relentless). She tapped her foot as the turbolift spead towards the Bridge and Winter was just about to yell at the Computer to go faster when the doors opened. She stormed out of the lift and may have shoved an ensign out of the way. She slowed down as she reached the Captains Ready Room and took a deep breath before pressing the chime.

"Come!" Vorn called, putting the PADD he had been working on to one side and picking up the next one. The sheer amount of paperwork involved in the events following their mission was staggering - Vorn reckoned it must be at least seven times the usual amount.

The doors opened and Winter tried to be calm as she walked towards the Captain's desk. "Captain Krace." Winter began. "I'am your new CMO, Doctor Winter Balmorra." Winter explained. "And I have been here for a day and I have not recieved a word from you about my transfer." Winter stated.

Vorn glanced up at the Doctor before glancing back down at his work, tapping a few keys on the PADD for a moment or two, before turning his attention once more towards Winter. "Welcome aboard, Doctor," he said, allowing the slightly insubordinate tone he heard touching her comment slide. "As you can see, I've been extremely busy for the past couple of days, sorting out paperwork for a court martial."

"Yes Commander Brown's. And I'm sure you're busy, but I do have the license to represent the Federation in a Diplomatic Capacity so I can take the Diplomatic Work Off your hands." Winter explained.

"Yes, I recall seeing something of that in your personnel file," Vorn replied. In truth, he had only learnt of his previous CMO's reassignment, Lieutenant LaToon, yesterday morning, and had only had a chance to glance at her replacement's file so far. "I'll bear it in mind whenever we come across any diplomatic situations. For now; refresh my memory for me - I want a short summary of your service in Starfleet, and your medical career."

"I joined Starfleet as a humanitarian," Winter explained. "The Dominion had just finished raveshing the quadrant and I felt it was my duty as a pacifist to help Starfleet get back to exploration." Winter explained. "My Medical carreer was the same deal, I was part of the military but I obey the medical general order one." Winter explained.

Vorn nodded as he took in the information. "How do you feel about the current Elyshan situation?" he asked, wondering at how a humanitarian would feel if another war broke out.

Winter sat back in her chair, she had been giving the subject a lot of thought lately. "As someone once said......... when faced with tangable alternatives, one must look for others..........simply put captain, we are going into the storm and I believe war is all but inevitable." Winter explained. "And that's from a humanitarian and a starfleet officer."

"Unfortunately, I'm afraid I have to agree with you," Vorn said, letting out a deep sigh at the thought. After a few moments pause, he said, "I don't look forward to or relish the prospect of another war, but if it does break out, I need to know that I can count on every member of my crew." He looked her squarely in the eyes. "Will you be willing to carry out orders which may cause harm to our opponent in a time of war, so long as they are not your patients?"

"You can count on me Captain, and this time the war isnt going to last two years is it?" Winter asked.

"Glad to hear it," Vorn replied, satisfied. "Dismissed, Doctor."
