Formation Flying

Posted on Sat Mar 6th, 2010 @ 3:48pm by Captain Vorn Krace & Lieutenant JG James Riller

Mission: Borderline Diplomacy
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: MD04 1004hrs [Backpost]

Vorn walked onto the bridge from the turbolift and waved for Acle to remain in the command chair. "Lieutenant Riller, join me in my ready room," he said as he walked towards his doorway.

"Aye sir", he replied, as he stood up and walked behind him into the ready room, leaving the Ensign to take control of the helm.

As the two entered the ready room, Vorn placed the PADD he'd been carrying on his desk, before turning towards the Lieutenant. "I've just received some more information on protocol for the mission," he said. He paused for a moment, looking at the pilot infront of him. "How are you at flying in formation with a ship this size?"

"I should be fine sir", he replied.

"Good," Vorn replied. "Because according to the regulations sent to us from Bevrud, they require that any movement in-system we make, we must not only be accompanied by an escort, but we must follow their lead and stay in formation with however many ships they send to escort us." He paused, waiting for the pilot's response to this news.

James nodded, "We must do what we must do. Just a game of following the leader", he joked.

"Mmm. Yes, well just make sure to-" Vorn was cut off mid-sentence by a slight shuddering in the ship. =^=Bridge, report.=^=

"Captain, we seem to have hit an unusual disturbance," came the response, followed by what felt like turbulence. "We have dropped out of warp.

Nodding to Riller, Vorn led the two of them back onto the bridge, and looked at the main viewscreen as the lieutenant took his station. "Report, Mister Riller."

James looked down on the console and replied, " Seems this strange disturbance is interfering with our warp drive and we are barely holding on to sublight", as he focused more on the disturbance, "I'm afraid I have no idea what it is, possibly a natural occurance of some sort, but other than that sir.."

Vorn moved to stand behind the helmsman to look at the console himself, confused at what was being reported. "Keep us at half impulse," he ordered, as the ship shook some more after hitting another distortion. "Until we can get out of this distortion," he continued, taking his seat in the command chair. "Then resume course."

Hopefully this distortion wouldn't slow them down too much.
