Jordan decided that it was probably time to find out whether this woman he would be working with for the next few hours even knew who he was. They'd only met a few times aboard 386 but given that he had remembered her over the years, he was anxious to know whether he had made an impact on the woman.

"Commander?" He asked quietly. "Can I speak to you for a moment?"

Sara was looking over a couple of PADDs after her briefing with the away team. She sat them aside and looked up at Gunning. "Of course, Lieutenant. Do you have concerns about the mission?"

"Aside from Commander Brown's ability to carry out his role without having to hypo himself, no. None at all." Jordan sighed, deciding that it was time to bite the bullet. "I remember you from your time on Starbase three-eight-six. I was wondering if you remembered me. I know it seems ridiculous and I realise that as an intelligence officer you'll have met thousands of people over the years but, you know, I was curious."

"I don't know if I would say thousands, but yes, I have met my share of individuals. However, I make it my business to remember details. You were the assistant chief tactical officer, were you not?"

"Yes, ma'am." Jordan replied. He was more than a little pleased that the Commander did remember him. "I was. I'm glad my work made some kind of an impact with you."

"You performed your duties admirably, Lieutenant. Your experience in covert operations should prove invaluable on this mission." Sara went back to reading her PADDS while Jordan continued to stand by. She caught him start to give up and walk away when her thoughts caught back up with her. "I'm even more impressed that you remember me. I'm not really one to make a social impact."

"Well, I was aware of that," he replied, "your professional conduct was exemplary and something I've tried to emulate."

Sara's expression didn't change. She only nodded. "Thank you for the flattery, Lieutenant. I know this may sound petty, but sometimes I feel that my work is under appreciated. Far too often have I been criticized over the things I've done in the name of the Federation."

"We all have to do things that are worthy of criticism in the interest of the greater good sometimes, Commander." Jordan replied. "As long as we're sure they're the right thing to do then the criticism and derision of less informed people should never be a factor."

Sara nodded. "I suppose you're right, Lieutenant. We should probably get back to work. It would probably be beneficial for you to go over the palace floor plans." Sara handed Jordan a PADD and went back to reading her own. As much as she liked meeting with an old friend, she was quickly receding back into her shell, trying to hide from the world behind her work.

"Agreed, Commander. Let's get to it."
