Debrief Part Two

Posted on Sat Feb 5th, 2011 @ 11:40pm by Captain Vorn Krace & Commander Acle Walex & Commander Jordan Gunning & Lieutenant Valkris Edwardson

Mission: Shadows Fall
Location: USS Iapetus
Timeline: MM2 MD28 - 0008hrs

[OLD]
Kaldor took a look down at the Lieutenant's orders which showed her to be part of his crew. The only part of his crew left. "Watch your tone, Lieutenant. We had the Romulans in our sights until the Klingons dropped out of warp right on top of them. For all we know, they're out of the system by now. I'm not sure they'll be around for another one of Gunning's sweeps."

"Yes sir, I only meant that we cannot expect that if the Romulans are behind this attack, they will simply fade away. Their doctrine will no doubt mandate the elimanation of Science vessels first then any other tactical threats second. That is if they can't slip away undetected."

[NEW]

Valkris kept her attention focused on Captain Kaldor, she could empathize with what he was feeling at this particular moment, sitting here as a guest, a Captain without a ship. She imagined how she would feel if she were in his place. How the faces of those he'd left behind on board the Marconi and how the memory of them must haunt him at this moment. "..What are your orders sir? If you are confident that the Romulans have left the system, shall I release the Emperor's Fist so that they may return to their duties? Commander K'nera is waiting for a decision."

"Do it." Kaldor replied, forgetting his place on this vessel. This was not his ship and despite her being a member of his crew, he had no right to give orders. "If Captain Krace is all right with that, of course."

""Captain, The Fist should have no problem continuing on with their mission, Commander K'nera won't like leaving under these circumstances but an assurance from me will do much to convince her.." Valkris replied. "...Although without a ship, and a crew to command her, what will we do now Captain Kaldor?"

"Send the Fist away," Vorn agreed. He'd only worked with Klingons in a few instances previously, and they were always a pain to get cooperative with - if he had the choice, he'd rather work without them, at least for the moment. "For the moment, Captain," Vorn turned towards Keldor, "you and the members of your crew who beamed over with you are welcome to join us in our efforts to uncover what happened here and why, and you can be beamed to a Federation starbase as soon as we have completed our investigation." Vorn made a mental note that this Valkris however, would be watched for the moment - he didn't like the way the debrief had gone, and how she had resolutely refused to answer any questions to satisfaction. Though he trusted the judgement of another Captain, he simply could not ignore the coincidence of the Klingon's arrival, and the fact that it had allowed the seemingly-Romulan vessel to flee.

This Krace...is either on a Fek'thr wamwI (demon hunt) or simply has his priorities out of place Valkris thinks to herself, listening to them go back and forth over what should be..a non-issue in her estimation. Looking around the room, she can barely contain a contemptuous exhale, especially at some of the bravado of this Captain Krace and his XO Walex. The Fist outclasses the Iapetus in many categories, and yet, they would rather send her away rather than work together to find these Romulans that THEY lost?

Refocusing her attention on the situation and conversation at hand, Valkris takes a small personal PADD and keys in a short passage to be sent later. Her fiancée would want to know what's happened, and she wanted to preserve this moment should things on board bring her to Sto-vo-Kor sooner than expected.

"....send them away? Captain, I will inform Commander K'nera that I have...arrived safely and that despite the reality of the situation, the voDleH ro' can proceed with it's current orders. Unless there is some other matter you wish to discuss?"

This Krace and by extension his XO, do seem to strangely feel as if they have something to prove. Valkris isn't sure what it is yet but finding out will go along way to improving the current state of this relationship.

"Captain, I would suggest that a wider search of the sector be conducted! Romulans do not just leave when there are still witnesses. Be assured that they are still here, and they will wait until they are either discovered or the situation improves before completing their mission." Valkris warns ".....I admire your confidence in your crew and your....ship"

"We are already on top of the matter of the other vessel," Vorn said, elusively, thinking back to the fact that their last tachyon sweep had left the Romulan vessel exposed for some time, and that as soon as the ship had moved to just the edge of the Iapetus's expansive sensor range, they would be altering their course to match that of their prey.

"Yourself and each member of Captain Kaldor's crew onboard Iapetus will be accompanied by a security officer, for your own protection," Vorn said, knowing that there was another reason he wanted security to follow Valkris. "If I find a need for your expertise or input, I shall call for you," he said, before turning and walking towards Acle, who was closer to the door leading out of the room. Standing close, he said quietly in his ear; "Get some quarters sorted for each of them."

"Thank you Captain Krace, I would need to contact Commander K'nera.."
Valkris begins to wonder if pushing the Fist<< to it's maximum warp, was such a good idea after all. General Order 27 allowed her to be able to see her family, even if half of it was within the Klingon Empire. Still, she felt more like a prisoner than a member of Starfleet.

Captain Kaldor's heart sank. One of them could be responsible for it. What if one of them was working against them and the Romulan presence was just a coincidence. This area of space did seem to be full of coincidences- unfortunate ones at that.

Valkris turns to Kaldor, "Captain, what are we going to do now? I personally don't believe that a Romulan ship is just going to leave this..ship alone! If they're responsible for the loss of the Marconi, the Iapetus could be next! I didn't come all this way to be put under guard!"

Valkris can see the look in the man's eyes, the guilt of those who've left him. "...They served with honor and died as warriors! There was nothing you could've done to prevent what happened sir..."

"You're right, Valkris." The former Commanding Officer of the USS Marconi offered. "However, I appreciate Captain Krace's candour on this. If he feels that the officers formerly of the Marconi need to be supervised then that's what will happen."

Valkris nearly laughed with contempt at this, "....Captain! let us not mince words any longer!" Valkris regained control of her emotions but her anger still was there under the surface, she leaned in close so that her meaning would not be misinterpreted "...You are a Starfleet Captain, and I have served in both Starfleet, and in the Klingon Defense Forces for some time! I for one cannot simply expect that my arrival here one day earlier than expected has any conincindence with the destruction of the Marconi or for Captain Krace losing track of a Romulan ship!!"

Her eyes flash with a burning anger "...and furthermore, Krace's irrelevant, and insidious line of questions about where I went on leave and who I spoke with IS out of order! I surely doubt that he would be so inclined to answer such questions that are of no concern and of a private nature!" Valkris's eyes narrow to thin slivers of emerald as she pauses

"....Let's be honest...Captain! my being ordered to report to the Marconi and where those orders were routed to are a matter of public record with Starfleet Command and by extension, Starfleet Security! You were her were her Captain, if there's anyone who should Supervised because of this! The only reason I can see why Captain Krace is even suggesting this...."

Valkris considers what she's about to say and then sits back, disgusted by the insinuations, and regretting even transporting over to the Iapetus in the first place. ".....unlike you Captain, I am not so understanding of Captain Krace, and to reiterate what Mr. Gunning laughing mentioned earlier... If I knew that coming here would be this much trouble, I'd have stayed where I was. I am perfectly willing to return home...I will not accept anyone questioning my Honor or my dedication! Krace will do what he feels is best, but true warrior accepts the consequences of his actions!."
