The Great Escape

Posted on Mon Mar 22nd, 2010 @ 4:24pm by Captain Vorn Krace & Commander Peter Brown & Lieutenant Commander Sara Archer & Commander Jordan Gunning & Lieutenant JG Winter Balmorra

Mission: Borderline Diplomacy
Location: Bevrud Capital - Location Unknown
Timeline: MD08 0800hrs

Vorn reached up to rub his chin, feeling the stubble that was starting to poke through as he sat on the hard stone floor. None of the prisoner's had said anything since the First Minister had been taken; they were too tired and lacked the energy to put up with pointless bickering at this point. Vorn recollected the last time he was imprisoned during a diplomatic mission; by all accounts so far a much more pleasant experience by comparison. Their jail cell had been the diplomatic suite in the Maldoran's capital city as they had been placed under house arrest. They had even been relatively well looked after; they had been giving small helpings of food, could wash, and were very comfortable, if a bit crowded, with all ground-side personnel sealed in the suite.

This time, they had nothing but a concrete cube with one way in or out, and it was sealed; Lt. Gunning's checks had already made sure of that. Vorn knew at this point; and he suspected that the others all would as well; they weren't going to get out of here without some outside help.

Winter said druming her fingers against the wall she was leaning against. Her finely sharpened nails clanked against the hard concrete cube that softened the sound a bit so it was hardly noticable, even to Captain Krace who was sitting beside her. While this situation wasnt exactly her idea of a diplomatic suite, coup't d'eta's had a way of doing that.

Jordan sat in complete silence in the corner of the room. There was no point in discussing the situation any further. The First Minister had been removed from their company and he couldn't help but feel that it would take a minor miracle to get them out of this one.

Peter was standing an the corner of the Room he looked at Vorn for several moments before putting his hand to his head as he felt pain going though his body he was suffering withdraw from his medication and which was somthing he could'nt do not again; as Peter knew in his Mind that if he let himself slip pepole will die he knew what he had to do

"Here goes nothing" Replied Peter as he took an Hypospray from his boot and injected himself with the Medication he felt it go though his body with great speed

Vorn looked up as he heard Peter murmur under his breath, and watched him take the hypospray from his boot and apply whatever compound was inside it into his system. Before he could say anything to the man about it however, he was distracted by a noise outside the cell door.

After a while, a commotion outside the cell broke the silence. The rattle of an unbalanced cart reverberated off the smooth walls. It stopped just outside their door. A conversation in Bevrudl developed between the two guards and the bearer of the cart, a young Bevrudl woman wearing a hooded cloak. For the away team in the cell, it was impossible to translate what was said. The conversation in question actually concerned what was being transported via the cart.

The discussion continued for a couple of moments before the cell door was opened. One of the two guards entered the cell, drawing her weapon and training it on the prisoners. The woman pulls the cart away while the second guard pulls the load off the cart and starts backing into the room. It only took a moment to reveal what he was carrying.

"My god!" Kutan exclaimed. The Sovereign had remained quiet up until now. "That's Hitampki!"

The woman hands the second guard a PADD. He turns back towards the prisoners. He read the PADD in Federation Standard, albeit with a heavy Bevrudl accent. "The First Minister sends his regards, and a gift to show how he treats his enemies. Enjoy."

Jordan had all but had enough and felt the need to speak. "You may deliver the regards of Lieutenant Jordan Gunning to the First Minister." He said slowly and quietly as he twisted his hands together. He was itching to move on the guard but there was no sense in that manoeuvre; they'd all be gunned down before he reached the guard. "Tell him that I admire a man who is unable to do his own dirty work and he may rest assured that he'll look into my eyes as he dies."

It was not usually in the Lieutenant's character to be so vindictive but he had observed a marked change of behaviour in the 'First Minister's' behaviour since they had been ambushed. He seemed less assured and he imagined that this kind of message may put the man on edge, giving them a form of advantage should it come to a face-to-face confrontation.

The guard just laughed at the threats. As far as he knew, they were all going to rot in that cell. Fate, however, had different plans. Before the guard had a chance to turn around, the woman was right behind him. She quickly raised both arms, placing and hand on the shoulder of both guards, just below the base of the neck. Giving them a hard squeeze, the two Bevrudl men crumpled to the ground. The woman stepped into light of the cell and grabbed the rifles off the two guards. She handed one to Gunning, the other to Krace. She reached up behind her head and lowered the hood, revealing her long auburn hair. She reached behind her back and pulled out a Bevrudl phaser pistol. She shifted her gaze across each member of the away team before stopping on Krace. "Come with me if you want to live."

"Now that," Gunning called, "is more like it!"

Winter looked at the woman. "About time!" She said smugly.

Raising an eyebrow, Vorn muttered under his breath as he caught the rifle; "Can't argue with your reasoning." As the party started to move quickly out of the jail cell, Gunning and Krace holding their rifles up and sighting down them as they entered into the corridor, Vorn had to make sure he knew who they were following. "Who are you, exactly?"

"Now is not really the time for introductions, Captain," she replied, offering a subtle glance towards the sovereign. "Let's just leave it 'a friend.' I'll brief you in full once we've reached the safe house. We have 26 minutes until the next guard rotation. I suggest we get far away from here." Ushering everyone out of the cell, the woman seals the cell door behind them. "If you'd all follow me, I know a shortcut."

"No argument from me," Vorn replied, for the moment happy to be out of the cell.

"Don't I get a weapon of some kind?" Winter asked. "Or at least a tricorder?"

"Bevrud phaser rifle. Thirteen settings, sighted for accuracy with an illuminatory beacon on the front. Notoriously hard to fire and equally hard to stop from overheating at the muzzle." Jordan turned to the captain "I would suggest we either try to find our own weapons or fire these sparingly, Captain."

"Forgive me for the lack of additional equipment," the mysterious woman pleaded. "It's only been about twelve hours since you were captured. In that time, I had to figure out where you were taken, how to get in, guard rotations and patrols, and how to get back out. It wasn't as easy as it sounds."

"I assure you, the effort is appreciated," Vorn replied, his eyes darting as he scanned the corridor as they moved quickly. His eyes lingered on Kutan for a few moments, the Elyshan having stayed quiet since the body of Hitampki had been dropped in on them. Vorn knew that the Elyshan Sovereign likely wouldn't be too phased by the man's death, and wondered as to what was going through the man's mind.

Peter walked out the cell and looked around the Area he looked at the Doctor

"Doctor; just keep your head down we will be out of this soon" Replied Peter as he walked closer to the Captain keeping an eye on there new friend while at the same time looking for points of escape as they walked.

"Everyone, there is an access panel about seventy meters down this hall. If we take that, we can go into the service tunnels, and make our way back into city. I suggest we hurry." The away team's rescuer took point, leading the captured officers and Elyshan official to their next destination.

Peter walked up towards the Access Panel then looked around checking the area. "Captain; I suggest we keep on moving. Any stalling could be bad for us."

"Agreed," Vorn said, as he pulled open the panel and pointed his rifle down it to check that it was clear. "Let's go."
